Unheard the Home Is Humming
Unheard the Home Is Humming is the first comprehensive English presentation of the foremost Estonian lyrical poet of the first half of the 20th century. Ernst Enno’s poetry (1875–1934) has been highly appreciated by several generations of Estonians for their introspection, musical quality and spirituality. Many of his poems have been turned into well-known choral or popular songs. The current ѕelection contains 44 poems from different periods of Enno’s life from his very early work up to his very last piece written on his deathbed. The translations maintain the original form of the poems which are mostly rhymed, and yet Enno was the first Estonian poet to attempt free verse as well. The book includes a foreword about Enno’s life and work.
