It approaches the relationship between STEM fields and the arts in a way that should remove the mutual stigma each field has in recent decades given to the other. It helps newcomers and experienced programmers to connect the ways they personally approach their work with the tasks they need to do. It gives programmers a clearer sense of audience so they will become more capable of coding with an awareness of the experience they are creating for their users. It illuminates programming using the tools of art and the context of art history. It gives programmers an understanding of the practicalities of an artist’s life as well as an understanding of their work as intellectual property. It is not confined to the current conditions of programming and should continue to be useful to new programmers for a long time to come.
