The Apollo Group is the largest entertainment companies in Estonia. Apollo has 16 bookstores all over Estonia, 6 multiplex Cinemas, 6 Blender smoothie bars. Apollo is also one of the largest e-stores in the Baltics
We do hope that Apollo is a cosy place you would always visit again. Here you can find tens of thousands of books, gripping films, spirited music and inventive social games – everything you will need for spending quality time.

Every month, Apollo’s assortment of books is supplemented by about 1700 new titles, and books come both in printed and digital format. Likewise, new films for the young and grown-up members of the family reach the stores only a couple of months after their release. In addition to board games, Apollo also offers electronic games for all gadgets – from home PCs to Wii consoles.

History of Apollo

  • March 1990 – the IT company Astrodata AS is established
  • May 1998 – through the merger of Astrodata AS and Microlink AS, Astrodata becomes a holding company and its new name is Astro Holding AS
  • July 1998 – a new company Astro Raamatud is established and the Teadus bookstore in Tartu, which had to that point been a business unit of Astrodata, becomes its first bookstore
  • March 1999 – expanding to Pärnu, where books are first sold in a bookstore on Rüütli Street
  • September 1999 – expanding to Tallinn, which leads to the buying of the www.raamatud.ee online store together with the Raamat Postiga mail-order catalogue from Ajakirjade Kirjastus AS
  • December 1999 – cooperation with the Delfi online store is launched; it sells books, music and films
  • October 2000 – Suomalainen Kirjakauppa OY becomes the core shareholder of Astro Raamatud with 60% of shares
  • December 2000 – Astro Raamatud opens the first bookstore under the Apollo trademark in Estonia: Apollo Raamatumaja on Viru Street in Tallinn
  • March 2001 – the former Raamat Postiga mail-order book magazine starts to operate under Apollo’s name and trademark
  • April 2001 – Astro Raamatud transfers the retail stores at 1 Ülikooli Street in Tartu and 41 Rüütli Street in Pärnu to the Apollo trademark
  • October 2001 – the former Raamat Postiga online store at www.raamatud.ee is transferred to the new address www.apollo.ee
  • August 2003 – Suomalainen Kirjakauppa OY becomes the sole shareholder of Astro Raamatud
  • November 2003 – Apollo Raamatud AS is the new corporate name of Astro Raamatud AS
  • April 2005 – Apollo launches its customer programme and is the first in Estonia to introduce the ID card as a customer card
  • June 2005 – Apollo opens its fourth bookstore in Kristiine Centre, Tallinn
  • October 2005 – Apollo opens a bookstore in Tartu Kaubamaja
  • September 2006 – Apollo opens bookstores in Ülemiste Centre in Tallinn and in Port Artur 2, Pärnu
  • May 2007 – Apollo opens a bookstore in Kaubamajakas Shopping Centre in Pärnu
  • November 2007 – Apollo's online store has a makeover and gets a new design
  • December 2007 – Apollo opens a bookstore in Vaala Shopping Centre in Rakvere
  • June 2009 – Apollo's store in Port Artur 2 in Pärnu is expanded
  • October 2009 – Apollo gets two new stores: one with the biggest ever sales area is opened in Solaris Centre, Tallinn; and the largest bookstore in southern Estonia in Lõunakeskus, Tartu
  • May 2010 – the merger of Finnish-based Rautakirja’s subsidiaries in Estonia (Apollo Raamatud AS, Forum Cinemas Home Entertainment AS, R Kiosk Eesti AS and Lehepunkt AS) results in the establishing of Rautakirja Estonia AS
  • August 2010 – Apollo Raamatumaja on Viru Street, which had operated for almost ten years, is closed due to the termination of the lease contract and the Apollo store in Solaris becomes its signature store
  • August 2010 – Apollo stores are opened in Rakvere Kroonikeskus and Haapsalu
  • October 2010 – Apollo's store in Kristiine Centre is moved to a larger sales area and has a total makeover. In line with the new concept, the selection of books is complemented with films, music and games featured in separate sections
  • December 2010 – Apollo celebrates its 10th anniversary. Selling of e-books and e-readers begins
  • June 2011 – Apollo’s stores in Pärnu are merged and a new store with a new concept is opened in the newly built Kaubamajakas Shopping Centre
  • September 2011 – Apollo’s signature store in Solaris has a makeover and films, music and games get separate sections so that customers can easily find their way around the store
  • November 2011– Apollo opens a new store in Viimsi Centre.
  • July 2012 – Apollo store in Tartu Kaubamaja is expanded and after a makeover is re-opened under a new concept
  • March 2012 – Apollo launches the e-store at www.apollo.ee with a new platform
  • May 2012 – Apollo is officially separated from Rautakirja and a new company, Apollo Holding OÜ, is established. Apollo's store in Ülemiste Centre is expanded and after a makeover is re-opened under a new concept
  • 2012 November - Apollo stores will be opened in the center of Järve, Tallinn, and at Uku Center in Viljandi
  • 2013 December - We will release the first Apollo e-reader, the first Estonian reader
  • 2014 May - The opening of the first Apollo Cinema in Pärnu Center
  • 2014 May - Opening the bookstore of the Pärnu Center with a separate children's department Apollo Kids
  • 2014 August - Apollo bought Solaris Cinema
  • 2014 August - Apollo opens a wide range of Russian-language assortments at Kohtla-Järve at the Vironia Center
  • 2014 November - Apollo opens a bookstore with a wide range of Russian-language assortments at Lasnamäe Centrum
  • 2014 November - Apollo opens its first mahlabar Blender in Ülemiste Center
  • 2015 February - UP Invest OÜ buys 50% of Apollo Holding OÜ. Apollo Kinod OÜ and Apollo Kohvikud OÜ are not part of this transaction
  • 2016 February - Apollo opens a bookstore in Mustamäe Center, Tallinn's most modern Apollo cinema and Blender juice bar
  • 2016 October - Apollo was selected as the world's best service concept in the Global Service Design Award
  • 2016 - Apollo opened Blender's mahlabs at Kristiine Center, Rocca al Mare Center, Solaris Center, Mustamäe Center
  • 2017 April - Apollo Cinema opens a new cobbler of the newest world with the 6 most-developed rooms in Tartu Lõunakeskus. Luxurious "Max" cinema will be the first to come. At the same time, the sixth mahlabar Blender was also opened
